John Robertson, Jr. was born on May 8, 1784 in Virginia. He was married to Mary “Polly” Hess, daughter of Henry Hess, on December 10, 1806 in Botetourt County, Virginia. They had nine children: John (b. December 10, 1809), William (b. December 1810), Henry (b. about 1811), Isaac (born about 1811), Sophia, Thomas (b. about 1819), Elizabeth “Betsy” (b. about 1820), James (b. October 15, 1821), and Charles (b. about 1831).

The family moved to what is now Pulaski County in the 1830s, then moved along what is called the “Robertson Track,” from Pulaski to the Sugar Run area of Giles County, Virginia. John died around 1841 in Pulaski County.
