Elizabeth Meng was born on December 28, 1855 in Says, Graubünden, Switzerland to Anton and Marie (Mathys) Meng. Her famiy emigrated to America when she was three months old. Eventually they settled on a farm in Alma, Wisconsin near Tell.
On March 17, 1883, she was married to Robert Wenger. She and Robert bought her parents’ farm. They had six daughters: Mary (b. January 1884), Laura (b. February 1887), Amanda (b. May 1893), Olga (b. January 1895), and Elva (b. March 1897). The family resided in Alma, Buffalo, Wisconsin during the early 1900s. Elizabeth died on May 12, 1940, at 84 years of age. She was buried in the Alma Cemetery in Alma, Wisconsin.
