Anna Catharine Labar was born on March 12, 1780 in Upper Mt. Bethel, Northhampton, Pennsylvania to Abraham Labar and Anna Maria (Lange) Labar.  She was baptized at the Christ Lutheran Church in Upper Mt. Bethel, and the witnesses (godparents) were June, John and Catharine Labar, suggesting that she was named after her aunt.

Anna’s great-grandfather, Abraham LaBarre, came to America from France about 1728 with his brothers Peter and Charles, landing in Philadelphia.  They followed the Delaware River and settled in Mount Bethel, Bucks (now Northampton) County, Pennsylvania.  He married a Delaware Indian woman, and they had Anna’s grandfather, Abraham Jr.  Nothing else is known of our Delaware Indian great-grandmother.On December 9, 1800, Anna was married to Johann Heinrich “Henry” Bartholomew in Upper Mt. Bethel Township.  He was born March 26, 1779 (in Upper Mt. Bethel as well).  They had a five children: Mary (b. September 30, 1802), Philip (b. November 25, 1806), Abraham (b. March 9, 1808), John (b. September 6, 1810), and Barbara (b. ci. 1812).  At some point they moved the family to Ontario.  In October of 1814, John Sr. died in Hamilton, Ontario.

In 1820, she was married to Stephen Whitney.  She had three sons with Stephen Whitney: John (b. ci. 1818), Stephen (b. 1822 in Port Credit, Peel, Ontario), and Henry William (b. November 28, 1824 in Toronto).  Anna died on January 15, 1864 in Orillia, Simcoe County, Ontario.
