Asahel Morse was born May 4, 1813 in New York to parents Amos Morse and Anna (Wilson) (Fisher) Morse. On February 2, 1836 Asahel was married to Jane Millet in Geauga, Ohio. Their first child, Charles Morse, was born on November 22, 1837 in Ohio. Jane gave birth to a second son, Edwin Morse, in April 1842 in Ohio. Their third son Harrison was born around 1844 in Ward’s Grove, Illinois. A fourth son, Amos Morse, was born on June 10, 1849 in Morseville (presumably named after the family?), Jo Daviess County, Illinois. Asahel and Jane had a daughter, Louisa Morse, in about 1855.
The couple continued to reside in Morseville for the rest of their lives. Asahel died there on September 9, 1876.
