Sarah Sophia Chapman was born ci. 1770 in Virginia, probably near Giles County. She was married to Jacob Miller on November 8, 1794, in Montgomery County, Virginia, when she was 24 years old. They had two boys and three girls: Jacob (b. 1811), Sarah (b. 1814), Maria (b. 1815), Austin (b. 1817), and Sophia (b. 1819).
Jacob passed away on August 28, 1853, in Giles County, Virginia, at the age of 85. They were married for 58 years.
